These intimidating looking football cleats (boots to all you non yanks) are a world's first. The VLT's as I'll call them are the first cleats to use 3D printing to create the sole of the shoe.

Weighing practically nothing, these cleats are designed to improve an athlete's performance by increasing their off-the-line speed and overall possible max momentum. The sole unit itself is created using SLS manufacturing techniques (Selective Laser Sintering) which means there are multiple possible patterns able to be created.

This is important not only for this boot but for the future of sports footwear as this process allows unique and fully customizable plates to be created, meaning each persons boot could be different, catering to their weight, speed and height etc.

Exciting eh?
