Nike KD 7 "Calm Before the Storm"

The KD 7 "Calm Before the Storm" is the latest in the KD 7 range, a shoe designed for the reining MVP of basketball, Kevin Durant. With the KD 7, designer Leo Chang has created a narrative inspired by Durant's loves as well as family ties and hometown pride.

Featuring both new innovative technology and classic Nike features, the KD 7 "Calm Before the Storm" is based on unpredictable weather, and the tranquil yet chaotic period of the calm before the storm. This motif was chosen because of Durant's love of meteorology growing up and ties into the chaotic, non-stop nature of basketball.

Features of the KD 7 include Flywire for a locked down fit, which is combined with a forefoot strap for extra support for those movements on court. Additionally, a Nike Zoom unit is visible in the heel, which provides supportive cushioning for those quick movements and 3 pointers.

The KD 7 wouldn't be complete without Durant's signature touch. The forefoot strap conceals the names of his mother, father, grandmother and brother, the people who mean the most to him. It's finished with a sillhouette of his hometown Maryland,Virginia on the sole.
