Named after the poor dog that was sent into space by the Russians in 1961 during the space race, the Nike Zvezdochka is a futuristic looking sneaker by Australian designer Marc Newson. Originally launched in 2004, the sneaker is inspired by actual astronaut footwear Newson saw at the Russian space institute.
Featuring a flexible moulded outer cage that hugs a removable mesh boot, the boot is customizable through use of other model colours. The one-piece TPU cage is supported by a Nike Zoom unit for low profile cushioning.
